Startex Wonder-dri Towels

Startex (Sparten Mills) Wonder-dri towels were manufactured in a light weight cotton muslin and resembled the dish towels made from flour sacks in size and fabric. Generally they measure 27″ x 31″. They were printed and are usually found with a cloth sewn-in tag. Startex referred to them as “sack towels”. These were often sold through Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Ward catalogs. In the spring of 1956 you could buy two of these “Printed Sacking Squares” in Jumbo size for 67 cents. Now you sometimes see these referred to as small tablecloths or table toppers.
